What Is Florida Red Tide?
Florida red tide is commonly used to describe blooms of Karenia brevis in Gulf Coast waters. Local conditions can vary by beach, so each page keeps the sample date, official location name, and FWC abundance text visible.
RedTideToday gives each tracked beach its own status page, so the latest sample date, exact FWC source location, and original abundance text are easy to check in one place.
How FWC Monitors Red Tide
FWC publishes public sample records from specific monitoring points. A beach page may match by an official location name first, then by nearby coordinates when needed. That is why the exact source location is shown beside each reading.
The site does not replace FWC. It groups public FWC records by familiar beach names, then keeps the official monitoring location visible beside each reading.
How To Read FWC Red Tide Levels
FWC reports abundance as category text. RedTideToday displays that text directly, including phrases such as not present/background, very low, low, medium, high, or unclassified when a record cannot be mapped to a known category.
Colors on this site are visual aids only. They do not replace the FWC wording, and they are not used to calculate a beach-wide concentration.

Florida Red Tide FAQ
Where can I check Florida red tide today?
Start with the Florida status page or map, then open the beach page closest to your search. Each page shows the original FWC abundance text and sample location.
Is the map a replacement for official sources?
No. RedTideToday is an independent guide to public red tide data. For official beach, health, or emergency guidance, use FWC, NOAA, county, and local beach authority sources.
Why does a beach page show a nearby location name?
FWC samples are tied to monitoring locations, not marketing names for beaches. Showing the exact FWC location prevents a nearby sample from being presented as a whole-beach measurement.
Does this site calculate cells per liter for a beach?
No. It preserves FWC abundance text and does not synthesize a beach-wide concentration.
Official Sources
FWC provides Karenia brevis sample records. NOAA provides Gulf HAB respiratory forecasts. RedTideToday brings the nearby readings and forecast text together on beach-level pages.
What This Site Shows
Each beach page lists nearby FWC sample locations, sample dates, official abundance text, NOAA forecast text where available, nearby beach pages, and source links.
